Indianapolis showed us some of the best burgers in the Midwest. Sixteen cooks competed for the coveted chance of becoming a member of Team Bull and to compete in the World Food Championships this November.
Family Leisure hosted the event at their wonderful facilties with events for the entire family including face painting, live music, food trucks and much more! Not to mention, George Hill from the Indiana Pacers was a featured celebrity judge for the competition. Other featured judges included local food critic, Terry Kirts, local radio veteran, Dave “Gunner” Gunn, food blogger, Heather Tallman, and registered dietitian, Jenni Purcell Browning.
In first place, with a score of 93, Matt Stum from Local Eatery and Pub took home the gold with his “Backyard with a Twist” burger. This winning burger included pickled mustard seeds, pickled onions, American cheese, lettuce and tomato. Coming in second place, with a score of 88.625, Carlos Sampayo from Whiskey Business created the “Whiskey BBQ Burger.” The Whiskey BBQ Burger was dressed with bacon, whiskey bbq sauce, cheddar cheese and onion rings. In third place, Jake Burgess from Fox Gardin cooked up the “317 Burger” which scored an 88.625. This burger had mixed greens, bacon, aged cheddar cheese, onion, tomato and pickle.
