Wake Forest 2015 Bull Burger Battle

Saturday, October 17, 2015

It was the first year for Choice Pool and Spas to host a Bull Burger Battle and the event went off without a hitch! Seven fierce competitors battled it out in Wake Forest, NC for the final spot on Team Bull for the 2015 World Food Championships.

Not only did we have the highest scoring burger out of all the burger battles this year, but it took 8 different tie breakers to finalize our winner. Wow! After it was all said and done, Samir Mohammadi from The Corner Tavern in Cary, NC took home the gold with his Hawaiian Burger! Including ingredients like caramelized pineapple, avocado, pepper jack cheese and hot sauce, the Hawaiian Burger was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Mohammadi scored a 98.8333.

In second place, Michael Thomas made The Italiana Burger. This burger came complete with garlic herb butter, ricotta cheese, basil and Italian seasonings. Finally, in third place, James Hunt created a German inspired “Wurzburger.” The burger recipe included dry ground mustard, beer braised sauerkraut, green and red peppers.

We want to give a special thank you to the Wake Forest High School for coming out and cooking up burgers and hot dogs during the event. They donated all proceeds to the school booster club. Also, we want to thank each and every competitor, judge and attendee of this year’s burger battle. We can’t wait to come back next year!
